Early last Friday morning, the Thunderstruck Team (+ one) visited the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute upon the invitation of Jill Sauer. She gave us a personal tour of the facility and we had the opportunity to witness RIT training first hand. Instructor Jeffrey Kraft from the Chicago Fire Department was also on hand to answer any questions and to explain the procedures the trainees were conducting.
Afterward, we tried on some of the breathing gear fire fighters use and walked through the burned out building where the training took place.
This training facility is the best in the state with the most knowledgeable instructors. The team and I learned a lot and I cannot wait to visit IFSI again.
